Rajamahendravaram: With the last date for availing Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) ending on February 29, municipal corporations and municipalities have been conducting special melas in this regard. So far, about 2,470 BPS applications were settled out of 4,843. The State government introduced the scheme in the year 2019. So far the government has earned an income of Rs 39 crore through the BPS.
As per the directions of the government, the unauthorised structures which fail to come under BPS will be demolished. City planning wings of municipalities and municipal corporations in the district were issued orders in this regard.
The BPS applications settled in Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation are 730, in Kakinada Municipal Corporation 981, in the municipalities of Samalkot 10, Ramachandrapuram 51, Gollaprolu 2, Mandapeta 156, Pithapuram 64, Eleswaram 16, Tuni 65, Mummidivaram 264, Amalapuram 264 and in Peddapuram 104.
The State government has taken a serious view regarding the negligence of city planning wing officials of Rajamahendravaram and Kakinada municipal corporations for not clearing BPS applications as per the guidelines.
