Rajamahendravaram: Andhra Pradesh Telugu Akademi (APTA) chairperson Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi has assured to bring past glory to Potti Sriramulu Telugu University (PSTU) shortly.

Speaking to reporters at MP Margani Bharat's office here on Monday, she said the university will be continued in the historical city and there is no proposal to shift it. Steps will be taken to start Ph.D, M Phil, Astrology, Vaastu, Fine and Folk Arts etc and other courses in the university from the ensuing academic year along with filling of necessary faculty.

A regular Vice-Chancellor will be appointed shortly and the university issue also will be taken to the notice of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

She said necessary steps will be taken to strengthen the university in all fronts and promised to uphold the value of Telugu language as the wife of former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao.

PSTU was started with a noble cause but after the demise of NT Rama Rao the university was neglected, she alleged. Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is very much interested to develop the Telugu language as well as the university. PSTU is a boon to Telugu people, she averred.

MP Margani Bharat Ram said in the year 1985, former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao allotted 45 acres of land to the university and developed it. Later, former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu neglected the university and it lost its glory. In the year 2017, Naidu allotted 1.20 acres of university land to a private company violating the rules.

Problems faced by the university will be taken to the notice of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for their redressal, he added.
