Sand supply from 6 stock points in Nellore
District administration made all arrangements for supplying sand to the people who apply for it. The Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) identified 6 sand points in the district from various reaches and finally decided to distribute from 6 points from September 5.

The Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) identified 6 sand points in the district from various reaches and finally decided to distribute from 6 points from September 5. There is a total of 12 potential sand reaches and the sand would be made available at these six points for people who apply for sand.
The demand for sand has been very high in the district and the State government had allocated sand reaches at Minagallu of Butchireddipalem mandal in the district to serve the needs of the construction sector of Prakasam and Chittoor districts too. Finally, allocated sand reaches to these two districts from selected stock points.
The government categorically stated that the supply of sand would start from September 5 and deputed teams of officials for identifying the reaches and evaluating the availability of stocks for distribution even to the nearby districts for meeting the demand. The sand stock points identified for distribution are Pottepalem, Jonnawada, Mudivarthi, Viruvuru, Kambhampadu, and Battepadu in the district.
Officials are also verifying feasible reaches considering future needs in Penna reach between Nellore Rural and Atmakur areas along the riverbed. In fact, there has been huge demand from the construction sector where shortage of sand badly hit the livelihoods of labourers.
The Transport, Revenue, Police and Vigilance and Enforcement departments are going to monitor the system. The district administration has to announce the price of the load officially. Now, huge loads of sand are being transported from Minagallu from Buchi mandal to Prakasam and Chittoor districts.
In fact, the construction activity has been severely affected in district due to shortage of sand and the construction activity both in the public and private sectors was also badly hit.The State government imposed restrictions on sand excavation as it was preparing new policy till now. Though there were restrictions, leaders from various political parties have taken the advantage of ban.
