Vijayawada: Krishna District Collector Mohammad Imtiaz paid a visit to Kasarabada village of Chandralapadu mandal on Tuesday and inspected the sand reach. He instructed the officials to take measures to shift the sand in the reaches from getting washed away in the floods.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector said that more than four lakh cusecs of flood water was released from Nagarjuna Sagar dam and water level in the Krishna River would rise by Tuesday night.

On account of the situation, he ordered the officials concerned to take measures to shift the sand at the reaches to safe place immediately. Otherwise, the sand would be lost in the floods, he warned.

Furthermore, he said that sand would be supplied to beneficiaries on a priority basis without creating any inconvenience to them. He said the State Mineral Development Corporation, Mining Department and Revenue Department would coordinate and cater to the needs of the people.
