Srikakulam: CITU demands 21K as minimum wage

Srikakulam: The Central government is adopting anti-poor and anti-workers policies across the nation, alleged Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU) State president Ch Narasinga Rao and general secretary M A Ghafoor.
A rally and a public meeting were held here on Saturday on the occasion of CITU's 10th district-level celebrations. Speaking on the occasion, they said all trade unions across the nation will observe a one-day strike on January 8 protesting the Central government's anti-workers and anti-poor policies.
They demanded that the Central government enact a law for minimum wages for workers and each worker should pay Rs 21,000 as minimum wage. They strongly opposed Centre's efforts to dilute the concentration of labour laws. They also came down heavily on the Central and State governments for harassing workers to protect the interest of corporate people.
They also demanded Rs 10,000 as monthly aid for retrenched employees of various industries and demanded to stop privatisation of government establishments. CITU State vice-president Duppala Govida Rao and district president K Srinivas strongly opposed establishment of polluted units in north coastal AP districts particularly in Srikakulam.
