Srikakulam: Left parties, CPI-M, CPI and CPI (ML-ND), here on Monday, staged a protest in support of demand for roll back of hike in power tariff. They accused the State government of increasing power tariff under the guise of fixing the tariff on the basis of slabs.

Speaking on the occasion, CPI, CPI-M and CPI (ML-ND) district secretaries Sanapala Narasimhulu, Bhaviri Krishna Murthy and Thandra Aruna regretted that the State government increased the power tariff though the people are reeling under the impact of the coronavirus.

They said the working class had lost their income due to lockdown. They also opposed the proposals by the Centre to ride roughshod over the State government and demanded that the States retain the control over the power distribution companies.
