Stem cells benefit human beings in many ways in Vijayawada
There are many benefits with stem cells to human beings, said pediatrician M Madhavi at a programme organised at KBN College here on Thursday.
Vijayawada: There are many benefits with stem cells to human beings, said pediatrician M Madhavi at a programme organised at KBN College here on Thursday. She was the chief guest at a programme to create awareness for donation of stem cells.
The programme was jointly organised by the college and Dhatri Foundation.Addressing the gathering, Dr Madhavi said that everyday lakhs of stem cells were being produced in the human body and die on the same day.
She said that with stem cells, blood cancer can be cured. Stem cells will be the same for one in 25,000 people. Thalassemia can be cured by matching stem cells of thalassemia patient with a normal person, she added.
Dhatri Foundation AP and TS convener Ch Ravindranath said that the foundation was collecting stem cells from 10 lakh people across the country and tests are being conducted.
College principal Dr V Narayana Rao, PG college director N Venkatesh, MBA Head of the Department Dr Majarunnisa and others were present.
