Tirupati: Protesting against the proposed move of the Central government to privatise Indian Railways, Andhra Pradesh Abhivrudhi Porata Samithi (AAPS) and other organisations will organise a huge dharna before Tirupati railway station on July 24.

AAPS President N Raja Reddy and others have submitted a memorandum to Tirupati station manager K Rajendra Prasad on Monday to this effect. Raja Reddy said that Indian Railways is the fourth largest railway system in the world and fetching a revenue of Rs.2.5 lakh crores per annum. The Central government was conspiring to weaken this system by privatising it.

AAPS district president Sk Md Rafi, State Advisor of Bahujana Welfare Association P Vinayak Reddy, Balija Association leader R Chandrasekhar, U Raghu, IS Khaja and others also spoke on the occasion.
