Task Force police on Thursday arrested four persons for illegally smuggling 20 kg of gold at the Gannavaram airport in Vijayawada. The gold and silver jewellery is being moved from Mumbai to Vijayawada by cargo courier without any bills.
The officials said that gold was being smuggled and being supplied to various gold stores in the city evading the custom taxes. They said that they had seized the gold of worth Rs 17 crore and cash of worth Rs 10 lakh from the smugglers.
