Three jail officials suspended after undertrial prisoner commits suicide in Guntur
District sub-jails officer R.V.Prasad on Thursday suspended Tenali sub-jail superintendent Ramulu Naik, jail wardens Chittibabu, K.Ranga Rao for dereliction of duty.
Guntur: District sub-jails officer R.V.Prasad on Thursday suspended Tenali sub-jail superintendent Ramulu Naik, jail wardens Chittibabu, K.Ranga Rao for dereliction of duty. An undertrial prisoner lodged in Tenali sub-jail on judicial remand R.Veera Sankara Rao allegedly committed suicide in the sub-jail by hanging.
The jail officials did not take steps to prevent his attempt to commit suicide. For dereliction of duty, they were suspended. Veera Sankara Rao has been suffering from health problems. He was shifted to Tenali GGH for treatment on June 16. The doctors referred him to the GGH in Guntur city for better treatment.
The jail officials did not shift him to the GGH in Guntur. They send him back to Tenali sub-jail. Jail officials said that Veera Sankara Rao committed suicide by hanging due to helath problems.
