Tirupati: BJP activists led by party state secretary G Bhanuprakash Reddy on Tuesday lodged a complaint with Tirupati Urban police here seeking to register a case against Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Kodali Venkateswar Rao (Nani) for his insinuatory remarks on Tirumala temple hurting the sentiments of Hindus at large.
In the complaint, Reddy said that the Minister during a media interaction using vulgar words and made derogatory comments against Sri Venkateswara temple which was not only insulting in nature but also intended to incite religious feelings and wanted the police to take action after registering a case against the Minister.
The BJP leader made it clear that as per the Tirumala temple rule, if any non-Hindu desires to visit the shrine to offer prayers to Lord Venkateswara, he should furnish a declaration affirming faith in the Lord which is a must for other than Hindus.
