Tirupati: With the Temple city crossing 50 Covid-19 cases, the MCT Commissioner P S Girisha held an urgent review meeting on Monday with hoteliers, fast food centres as well as shopping malls owners over implementation of Covid-19 preventive measures during the business hours.

The Commissioner told that Covid-19 cases tally touched 50 in the city and positive cases were increasing gradually in the city. In these circumstances, more alertness was needed at shopping malls and hotels to prevent coronavirus spread, he pointed out.

He asked the business community to maintain proper thermal scanning at shops main entry point and place the required sanitisers for customers hands cleaning. Similarly, he advised them to allow customers into shops with masks only.

In view of everyone safety, lodges and hotels must provide accommodation to outsiders after proper thermal screening only, he said and added they should not allow above 60-year-old and below 10-year-old children and pregnant women.

Later, he inspected a few shopping malls at VV Mahal road and expressed satisfaction over precautionary arrangements to prevent virus spread. In another jewelry mall inspection, he noticed that the mall management did not arrange sanitizers at the entrance and also staff working without wearing of masks.

The Commissioner warned the mall management, if it repeats again, they will seize it without any notice.
