Tirupati: At a time the political leaders of different parties were not even in talking terms thanks to the prevailing cut-throat politics full of animosity and anger in the country, CPI national secretary K Narayana met an aged Sanghi N V Ranga Rao here on Sunday revealing a rare gracious political culture.

The Comrade and Sanghi who were engrossed in a friendly talk for about 30 minutes full of nostalgia, fondly recalled the politics of 70s and 80s in the pilgrim centre before an emotional parting. Ranga Rao spouse was also present.

Nandanavanam Venkata Ranga Rao ((90) who was from Ongole district came to the pilgrim city to work as RSS pracharak in 1958 and later worked as Bhrathiya Jan Sangh, the previous avatar of BJP, in various capacities to establish the saffron party in district.

When everyone hesitated to associate or work with the saffron outfit as it is a taboo in those days as the party was considered a party of Brahmins and a north India party, Ranga Rao worked with commitment for the party.

Narayana, who was from Nagari, had his education in the pilgrim city where he started his political career as student activist before becoming CPI district secretary and later elevated as national secretary. Narayana said that in those days the leaders cutting across party lines were very friendly.
