Presently, the MCT is transporting the garbage from houses by small trucks to recycling station at Thukivakam and dump yard at Ramapuram. This has become costly affair to the civic body. Municipal Commissioner PS Girisha speeded up the building of three garbage transfer stations, one each near Leela Mahal area, in AIR Bypass Road near community building and in Balaji Colony .

Now onwards the sanitation staff after collecting garbage from house, have to shift it to transfer stations by small autos or trucks. Later the garbage will be separated by the machines and compressed there. After completion of the process, garbage stocks will be transferred to recycling centre near Thukivakam by huge trucks and lorries. There municipal personnel will convert garbage as cooking gas and manure.

Presently, every day about 240 metric tonnes of garbage is being generated from city. Presently MCT sanitary staff are facing hardships to transport the collected garbage to recycling centre. In the new garbage transfer stations, garbage will be separated as wet and dry waste.

Deputy Commissioner Chandramouleeswar Reddy said to The Hans India that, it gives a big relief to separate and transportation of daily generated garbage. We conducted trial run of the machines successfully at garbage transfer stations at which machines were assembled a few days ago, he said.
