Tirupati: Red-sander Anti-smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) personnel arrested a smuggler identified as Suresh who was wanted in many smuggling cases, here late last night.
According to Task Force In-charge P Ravisankar, acting on a tip off, a Task Force team led by RSI Vasu nabbed Suresh moving suspiciously around 11 pm last night at Vinayak Sagar area on Mangalam Road.
Suresh was acting as a facilitator to smugglers from other state,
providing them transport and labour for smuggling red sanders and also bring woodcutter from Tamil Nadu for cutting the red-sanders in deep forest. He later sell them to the smugglers in Tamil Nadu and other states for smuggling them to other countries, Task Force In-charge said.
Task Force In-charge said the accused is having a `Pet Form' near Tiruchanur and under the cover of the Pet form (dogs) sale) he is engaged in the illegal red-sander smuggling.
