Traditional dances of Kerala enthrall audience in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: 'Thiruvathirakali', a group dance, 'Oppana', an exquistic folk art form performed traditionally among the Muslim community in Kerala and folk and classical dance enthralled the audience who arrived at Agni Kula Kshatriya Kalakshetram as part of the Onam celebrations organised by Visakhapatnam Malayalees Welfare Association.
Association president N Dhanapalan, secretary M P Kuriakose, among others took part in the celebrations. Some participants also presented western dances. Drawing intricate patterns of Rangoli, several women who settled here in the port city took active part in the celebrations.
The presentation of King Mahabali descending on the earth was one of the highlights of the event. The community members savoured 'Onasadya', an elaborate feast that has a spread of traditional dishes of god's own country.
Gajuwaka MLA Tippala Nagi Reddy, former MLA Chintalapudi Venkata Ramayya, among others attended the event. Visakhapatnam Malayalees Welfare Association has been organising Onam celebrations for several years apart from conducting various social and welfare activities.
