Kakinada: The efficiency and correctness of polling depends on working of sectoral officers, said East Godavari Collector Kartikeya Mishra.

Participating in the training classes organised to sectoral officers of Kakinada parliamentary constituency at PR Govt Degree College on Sunday, the Collector said that the sectoral officers play a vital role in conducting polling and they should ensure to follow all statutory requirements by presiding officers of every polling station during polls.

The Collector also said that in total 470 sectoral officers will supervise the polling and transportation of EVMs, VVPATs to polling stations and from there to strong rooms after completion of polling.

He said that during poll process, the sectoral officers should move in the sector to ensure smooth polling. Kartikeya Mishra also said that on the day of polling, information relating to polls should be given correctly by the sectoral officers and a separate app for this purpose has been designed. Necessary trainings on this app will be given to them to get real time information on polling, the Collector said.

The Collector said that the poll staffs at all levels are being provided training to discharge their duties effectively and to avoid mistakes. The first phase of training to POs and APOs was completed and second phase will be on held on March 30 and 31. Each polling station would be manned by one polling officer and four other supporting staff. Training to 20,000 polling staff in polling stations was conducted on Sunday at all divisional headquarters.
