Vijayawada: Demanding the State government to fulfill the pre-poll promises and resolve the pending issues, the Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation (APTF) staged Maha Dharna here on Thursday.

Several hundred teachers from various parts of the state participated in the Dharna.

MLC P Raghu Varma visited the dharna site and expressed solidarity with the teachers. He demanded that the State government regularize the outsourcing and contract employees, scrap the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), restore the old pension scheme, release the Pending DA arrears and speed up the implementation of PRC. Otherwise, the employees would face immense hardships, he added. He said that it was the duty of Chief Minister to fulfill his promises that he made at the time of elections and he cannot sidetrack on it.

APTF leaders said 'Nadu Nedu' was very useful for the development of infrastructure facilities.
