Animal husbandry and dairy development Appalaraju says the state government has launched toll free ambulance services to save lives of milch animals
Vijayawada : Minister for animal husbandry, dairy development and fisheries Seediri Appalaraju said the state government is distributing health cards for milch cattle and providing facilities like ambulances to give emergency treatment in the hospitals.
He said the dairy industry is very beneficial to farmers and gives financial support. The state gross state domestic production (GSDP) increased in the state due to implementation of various schemes for dairy development and the welfare of farmers.
Appalaraju attended as the chief guest at the ‘World Veterinary Day’ celebration held at the Tummalapalli Kalakshetram on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, Appalaraju said the state government has introduced 1962 call centre to provide ambulance service for the sick milch animals. He said the lives of the cattle can be saved by shifting the sick milch animals to the hospitals.
Giving details of dairy development and support given to the farmers, Appalaraju said the government is providing support price to dairy farmers and restoring the co-operative societies in the state.
He said the state government entered into MoU with Amul Dairy to give additional income to dairy farmers compared to private dairies. He said the animal health cards are very useful to the farmers.
He said according to veterinary council of India the Andhra Pradesh have livestock of one crore. The government has appointed veterinary assistants in 10,000 Rythu Bharosa Kendras and planning to fill the vacant posts in the department of animal husbandry.
He said the government has identified the need for appointing one veterinary doctor for every 5000 cattle and taking measures to fill the veterinary doctors’ posts lying vacant in the state.
Principal Secretary Dr Gopal Krishna Dwidedi said Andhra Pradesh ranked first in eggs production and stood fifth in production of milk and meat in the country.
Director of animal husbandry Dr R Amarendra Kumar presided over the function. He said ‘World Veterinary Day is observed on the last Saturday of April every year.
Dr CK Rao Endowment Trust presented the awards to veterinary doctors and experts in the field of dairy development and young entrepreneurs.
Dr Kamani Srinivasa Rao, assistant Director, NTR Veterinary super specialty hospital, Vijayawada received the outstanding veterinarian surgeon award from the minister Appalaraju on Saturday. The minister congratulated the veterinary doctors, experts in the field of dairy development and animal husbandry.
