Vijayawada: Krishna District Collector Md Imtiaz has said that the district administration is taking all necessary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the district and announced that one more isolation ward will be set up at the GGH very soon for the suspected cases.

Imtiaz visited the Gannavaram airport on Monday and checked the arrangements made at the airport for the screening of passengers coming from other places.

Speaking on the occasion, he said already two wards were arranged at the GGH and added the Union government has released a list of countries which are under scanner and passengers coming from these countries would be checked thoroughly.

He said one screening centre was already arranged at the Gannavaram airport and another centre would be arranged at the arrival block of the international airport terminal soon.

He said one new ward with 22 beds would be arranged at the super specialty block in GGH in Vijayawada soon.

He said arrangements were underway to inaugurate the super specialty block and new isolated ward with 2 ICUs, 52 ventilators and 22 beds.

He said special advanced Lab has been arranged at the Siddhartha Medical College to conduct the tests for confirmation of Covid-19 cases.

He informed that swabs collected from one suspected person, who came from Germany, proved negative.

Referring to the suspected cases, he said most of them were sent to their homes and been kept in isolation and under the supervision of the medical and health department staff.
