Vijayawada: Alliance for Protection of Secularism and Constitution state leader Ch Babu Rao has said the struggle would continues across India protesting against the implementation of National Register of Citizens and Citizenship Amendment Act.

He participated in a dharna staged in Beasant Road under the auspices of the alliance on Thursday.

Representatives of various organizations participated in the dharna. The protestors paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and recalled his role in freedom struggle.

Speaking on the occasion, Babu Rao said youth, intellectuals, women and all other people are staging protests across India opposing the implementation of NRC and CAA.

He alleged that the BJP government was implementing the divide and rule policy since it came to power for the second time in 2019 and there was a severe threat to democracy, secularism and the lives of the Muslims, Dalits and Tribals in the country due to the fundamentalist policies of the Union government.

He said the BJP is mainly focusing on the issues like Article 370, Triple Talaq, NRC, CAA and ignoring the development of the country.

CITU state vice-president P Ajay Kumar, advocate Abdul Mateen, social activist Syed Rafi, KVPS general secretary A Malyadri, Rytu Sangham leaders Y Kesava Rao, Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham state president D Subba Rao, and others participated in the protest. They raised slogans against the BJP government, NRC and CAA.
