Visakhapatnam: As part of the 71st Armed Forces Flag Day, plastic clean-up drive was held at INS Kalinga in the city on Saturday.

With the theme focused on 'Plastic se raksha, swachhta hi suraksha', close to 200 naval personnel, including defence civilians and their families took part in the clean-up drive with enthusiasm.

Addressing the gathering, Commanding Officer, INS Kalinga Commodore Rajesh Debnath underlined the importance of such drives which would aid in building awareness among people on the ill effects of the single-use plastic and conserve marine life.

He exhorted the participants to help spread the message 'reduce, reuse and recycle' and contribute their bit to protect environment from plastic menace.
