Visakhapatnam : The Andhra Premier League (APL) aims to bring out the talent of players in the state, said Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) CEO M Venkata Siva Reddy.

The APL T20 Tournament-2022 franchisees' logos were unveiled in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Siva Reddy said these competitions were being conducted in a highly transparent manner. He said a letter was written to set up an anti-corruption unit by the BCCI to avoid any sort of corrupt practice or criticism over the first-ever APL tournament.

He mentioned that six teams would be competing in the tournament which is scheduled to start from July 6. He stated that Women APL will also be conducted. The ACA members and franchisee owners unveiled the logos of the upcoming APL.

The franchisees include Uttarandhra Lions, Rayalaseema Kings, Godavari Titans, Coastal Riders, Bezawada Tigers and Vizag Warriors and the respective franchisee owners and ACA members unveiled the logos.

Speaking on the occasion, treasurer ACA Gopinath Reddy said the first edition of the APL is being conducted by taking inputs from the other premier leagues conducted in India.

Chairman of governing council, APL, Y Satya Prasad stated that the tournament has the approval of BCCI, and the tournament will be conducted as per the guidelines.

Representatives of ACA announced that Shriram Group will be the title sponsor of the APL and it will be called as Shriram APL.

The tournament will be starting from July 6 to July 22. The matches will be played at YSR ACA VDCA Stadium and they will also play day and night matches. The final is scheduled on July 17.
