Addressing the media on-board INS Jalashwa at Naval Dockyard here on Tuesday, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command Vice-Admiral Atul Kumar Jain said the ENC has recently inducted Deep Submergence Rescue Vessel capable of rescuing submarines in distress.

Elaborating about the ENC's present undertaking, Atul Kumar Jain stated four Mission Based Deployments will be deployed in the Gulf of Aden for anti-piracy patrol. "Navy plays a very important role to safeguard maritime interests of the country. From a solitary naval base in Visakhapatnam, the Command has gone a long way.

The area of responsibility of the ENC extends from the East Coast of India to Western Pacific and in the south to the Southern Indian Ocean," he stated, adding that bulk of the trade and economic activity is taking place in the Indo-Pacific region.

About Milan 2020, the Vice-Admiral added that the multilateral exercise is going to be hosted in Visakhapatnam for the first time from March 18 to 27 next year. Further, he added that it is to enhance professional interaction between friendly navies and gain experience in the multilateral large force operations at sea with the theme focusing on the 'Synergy across the Seas'.

About 41 countries were invited for the Milan 2020, of which more than 30 countries confirmed their participation, he informed. A presentation of the command activities was given on the occasion.
