Communist party of India (CPI) on Saturday staged a protest against the price hike in petroleum products
Vizianagaram: Communist party of India (CPI) on Saturday staged a protest against the price hike in petroleum products.
CPI State committee member P Kameswara Rao, district secretary O Ramana and others took part in the protest at RTC bus station.
The CPI leaders accused the Union government of jacking up the prices of petrol and diesel though the crude oil prices had fallen in the international market. The price rise was Rs 10 per litre during the last two weeks.
The increase in the price of petrol and diesel would lead sharp rise in price of essential commodities. Transport operators too would be forced to increase the fright charges, they said.
The coronavirus-induced lockdown had rendered the auto-rikshaw and car driver jobless. The increase in prices of petroleum products would impose additional burden on the, they said.
CPI leaders Bhugata Ashok, V Krishnam Raju, S Rangaraju and others took part in the protest in the protest.
