Woman constable attempts suicide in Visakhapatnam
In an incident, a woman police constable attempted suicide by hanging herself over unable to bear the sexual harassment in Visakhapatnam.
Visakhapatnam: In an incident, a woman police constable attempted suicide by hanging herself over unable to bear the sexual harassment in Visakhapatnam.
Lavanya who is working as a constable at Malkapuram Central Industrial Security Force Terminal stated in her complaint that Additional Commander TV Rao and SI Anand Rao are often harassing her.
Lavanya and her husband are serving as CISF constables in Malkapuram HPCL. Lavanya said that since some time, the officials are sexually harassing her and though she complained to the higher authorities over the issue, no action was taken. In the complaint, she stated that as there is no way out of the problem, she decided to take the extreme step.
Lavanya, who had attempted suicide, was rushed to a private hospital here in the city. The hospital sources have passed on the information to Malkapuram police station. On receiving the information, CI Uday Kumar registered a case and investigating further.
