YS Jagan directs to construct 9 new fishing harbours in the state
The Andhra Pradesh state government aimed at providing 9 new fishing harbours in two phases across the nine coastal districts.
Amaravati: The state government aimed at providing 9 new fishing harbours in two phases across the nine coastal districts. The Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials concerned to complete the construction of the fishing harbours as per the schedule, during a review meeting on it on Thursday at his Camp Office at Tadepalli in Guntur district.
He said that the availability of harbours in the state will improve the living standards of the fishermen and it will put an end to the migration of the community on livelihood search.
Fishermen primary livelihood activity is fishing and hence the government must bring cutting edge technology to the State and create favourable environment, said Chief Minister YS Jagan.
It is estimated that at least Rs 2,801 cr needed to construct the nine fishing harbours in the state. Uppada in East Godavari district, Machilipatnam in Krishna, Nizampatnam phase -1 in Guntur, Juvvala Dinne in Nellore will be undertaken in the first phase with an estimated cost of Rs 1,304 cr, announced the Chief Minister. The government aimed at construction of the harbours at another five places in the second phase with Rs 1,597.6 cr.
The harbours at Vadrevu and Kothapatnam in Prakasam district, Budhagatla palem and Edduvani palem in Srikakulam district and another place in Visakhapatnam district will be constructed in the second phase.
At the same time, he asked the officials to prepare plans to construct an airport in Prakasam district. He also directed to address all problems in the land acquisition and others at Bhogapuram airport.
