The Kwid facelift, which is expected to launch next month, has been spotted undisguised for the first time. Set to take on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, the Kwid facelift gets a couple of exterior and feature updates over the current model.
Taking hints from the City K-ZE, the Kwid EV sold in China, it gets a new split-headlight setup with the LED DRLs at the top and the headlamps placed in the lower bumper. Also, Renault has increased the size of the grille and will offer a faux skid plate on both front and rear bumpers as seen on the outgoing Kwid Climber. The rear bumper design and tail lights have been tweaked too. The spied version seems to be the Climber variant as it flaunts some orange accents, decals, roof rails and gun-metal alloy wheels.
The French carmaker is expected to offer the same 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and new instrument cluster from its newly launched Triber MPV. Also, it features orange coloured inserts on the AC vents and the gear knob as seen in the Climber variant.
In terms of engine options, it is expected to get the same 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre petrol options as before. While the former is good for 54PS of max power and 72Nm of peak torque, the 1.0-litre motor puts out 68PS of power and 91Nm of torque. Both engines will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox while the 1.0-litre unit will also get the option of a 5-speed AMT. Expect Renault to launch them as BS6-compliant units post 1 April 2020.
Expect the Kwid facelift to be priced at a premium over the current model, which is priced from Rs 2.76 lakh to Rs 4.76 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). When launched, It will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Alto, the Datsun redi-GO as well as the the upcoming Maruti S-Presso.
