Sivadi railway station platforms raised higher for senior citizens’ convenience

South Western Railway is taking effort to improve platforms. High level platforms are part of the minimum essential amenities to be provided at stations as per the latest categorization of stations based on passenger traffic.

Bengaluru: South Western Railway is taking effort to improve platforms. High level platforms are part of the minimum essential amenities to be provided at stations as per the latest categorization of stations based on passenger traffic.

As part of the enhancement of the passenger amenities at Sivadi on Bengaluru-Salem section, both the platforms at the railway station have been raised to higher level and extended for 440 meters with a width of 5.5 meters. This will help the passenger for easy boarding and de-boarding with just one step from the trains.

Sivadi station was provided Rail Level Platforms on Platform No.1 and Platform No.2. This proved inconvenient for boarding and de-boardingof trains especially for senior citizens, children and visually impaired.

The work of raising platform has been completed at a cost of Rs 1.2 crore.
