Launches chapati, poori and parota which it produces on mass scale

Hyderabad: Mangamma Foods Private Limited (MFPL), a city-based startup, on Friday announced its entry into 'ready2cook' segment under the brand name of Ammamma's. It manufactures multiple varieties of chapati, poori and parota on a mass scale at a mechanised plant it set up in the city.

"We established the unit near Kukatpally. It produces 40,000 chapati/poor/parota daily," said Nagasai Viswanath, co-founder of MFPL.

Viswanath had earlier worked as Business Head/Country Head for Globacom, a telecom company in Ghana. He also worked with several other companies including Coca Cola, SAB-Miller, Marico Industries and Parle Biscuits, before venturing out on his own.

The startup obtained production technology from Mysore-based Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI). The team of the startup also underwent training at the institute.

"Hyderabad offers huge market for chapatis. As per our estimates, chapatis worth Rs 4 crore are being sold in Hyderabad every month. We see huge potential for sales growth of our products," Viswanath explained.

The startup offers several varieties of chapatis including raagi and methi chapatis.

Currently, it is supplying its products to more than 30,000 houses. Going forward, the startup plans to tap gated communities in the city, where it will appoint agents.

"Ammamma's Chapati is made of 100 per cent whole wheat chakki fresh atta and follow the food products guidelines from food authorities and have a shelf life of seven days.

We believe that quality gives us continuous business and revenue," said Prathima Viswanath, another co-founder of the company.
