Hyderabad: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), the apex development bank of the nation for agriculture and rural development, celebrated its 38th Foundation Day on July 12, 2019 at Hyderabad.

Niranjan Reddy, Minister for Agriculture, Cooperation, Marketing, Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Govt. of Telangana was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

While congratulating NABARD for its proactive role in fostering rural prosperity, he acknowledged the various challenges facing the agrarian sector and shed light upon the roadmap for achieving sustained growth in farm incomes and reducing the vulnerability of farmers.

S Selvaraj, Chief General Manager of NABARD's AP Regional Office, while addressing the gathering, highlighted that NABARD had contributed to rural infrastructure creation in Andhra Pradesh with financial support of Rs 1,244 crore under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF), extended credit support to the tune of Rs 16,000 crore to Cooperative Banks and Regional Rural Banks and provided impetus to various developmental and promotional initiatives such as FPOs and tenant farmers financing.

Vijay Kumar, Chief General Manager of NABARD's Telangana Regional Office, while outlining the overall Bank's achievements and special initiatives that have taken place in the agriculture sector, etc., underlined NABARD's continued support for flagship programmes of Govt.
