The series, directed by Kanishk Verma, is slated for premiere on June 11, exclusively on JioCinema Premium.
In a recent interview, Batra revealed the meticulous preparation she underwent to breathe life into her character. Tasked with portraying the role of a police officer in East Delhi, Batra emphasized the significance of mastering her character's body language, tone, and interpersonal dynamics with colleagues and superiors.
"Being in a uniform automatically instils a sense of responsibility, especially for a show like 'Gaanth', which entirely circles around the investigation of a brutal crime," Batra remarked, highlighting the weightiness of her character's role in the narrative.
Delving deeper into her preparation process, Batra shared her excitement upon reading the script, which presented a character vastly distinct from her previous endeavors. She stressed the importance of understanding her character's backstory and relationships to authentically portray her on screen.
Batra's portrayal is complemented by her co-star Manav Vij, whose presence she credits for enhancing every moment of their scenes together. She expressed gratitude for Vij's support and insights, which facilitated a deeper understanding of her character's complexities.
"Manav’s presence enhanced and brought to life every moment for me because of his sincerely beautiful energy and the camaraderie we shared, which let me be my most vulnerable. He helped me a lot with his insights and experiences," Batra concluded, underscoring the collaborative effort that enriched their performances.
The trailer for "Gaanth" teases a gripping narrative, following disgraced police inspector Gadar Singh and psychiatric intern Sakshi Murmu as they unravel the mysteries behind a bizarre mass suicide case. Their investigation leads them down a dark path intertwined with media sensationalism, religious beliefs, and social psychosis.
