Rumours are rife that the story is set with Mumbai backdrop and Rajinikanth will be essaying the role of a sincere cop in this film. Nayanthara is going to romance Rajnikanth in this movie. According to the reports, the makers have got a transgender actress on board for this movie. She is Jeeva who previously appeared in Vijay Sethupathi's 'Dharma Durai' movie. Jeeva is a well known face in Kollywood and she is now going to play a crucial role in 'Darbar' movie as well.
South beauty Nivetha Thomas and Prateik Babbar are also playing crucial roles in this movie. Anirudh Ravichander is composing tunes for this film whereas Santosh Sivan is handling the cinematography.
