Mahesh's collaboration with Vamsi Paidipally isn't a new one. The director gave the Telugu superstar one of his most memorable movies. Yes. Maharshi, it was! The duo joined hands to make a movie on farmer suicides and the plight of the agricultural labourers in India.

K Balchander's Tamil classic Punnagai Mannan was known for being a blockbuster not only for the plot and its actors but also its songs. The movie has an iconic scene wherein the lead actors decide to jump off the cliff. A few minutes before the couple do that, both Kamal and Rekha share a kiss in the movie.

Now, years after its release, a video of Rekha telling people that the scene was shot sans her approval went viral with netizens demanding an apology from the movie unit.

She says in the video that when she asked Punnagai Mannan crew members about the kiss, they reasoned with her saying she could think of it as a huge king kissing a child. They also assured that the Censor Board would outrightly reject the scene and wouldn't pass it and how she need not worry about the scene being shown on the big screen.

Now with the revelation of Rekha spiralling into a controversy, Rekha has said that she is seeking no apology. The actress also goes on to say that only Kamal Haasan and the late director K Balachander can validate her claims. In hindsight, Rekha said that the kiss worked in her favour and brought her a lot of movie offers even though given a chance she would have avoided it totally.

Both Rekha and Kamal have probably moved on, but their kiss controversy is not going to die down anytime soon.
