Rowdy Star Vijay Deverakonda stepped into the shoes of a producer for the first time and made the film Meeku Maatrame Chepta, under his banner King of The Hill Productions. Starring popular director Tharun Bhascker in the lead role, this film has hit the screens last Friday.
Vijay's brand value and the extensive promotions made this film get a huge buzz, especially among the urban crowd. But the film was not up to the mark and this resulted in the audience to give a negative verdict for it. It opened well at the multiplexes but could only continue it through the weekend. The theatres remained empty during the weekdays. The film failed to grab the attention of B and C centers right from the beginning.
Vijay ended up in profits by selling the film for fancy prices and also got a good price for satellite and digital rights. But the distributors ended up in losses due to the poor performance of the film. Directed by debutant Shammer Sultan, Meeku Maatrame Chepta features Abhinav Gomatam, Vani Bhojan and Anasuya in the other key roles.
