NBK@60: A Journey of a legendary actor

Balakrishna… Be it on or off-screen, he is a 'Roaring Lion'! A landmark journey from 'Sahasame Jeevitam' to 'BB3' is just remarkable and ultimate.

Ranging from social dramas to sci-fi, love stories to mythological characters and faction king to Dictator… it is only Balakrishna who is continuing his legacy.

Although, born with a silver spoon, it was not at all a 'bed of roses' for Balakrishna as there were a lot of expectations for being the 6th child of Tollywood legendary actor Sr. NTR. Continuing the legacy of such a luminary and visionary actor, Balakrishna put all his efforts and left no stone unturned in his 36 years of cinematic journey.

It was he who presented the futuristic lives of humans in 2050, in film 'Aditya 369' released decades ago, and in 'Bhairavadweepam' he fought with demons to protect the queen. While his 'Samarasimha Reddy' showcased patriotism, the old-monk faction tales wooed the audience in the movie 'Chennakesava Reddy'.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that people in 90s stood in long queues to watch the roaring faction stories aptly presented by Balakrishna.

Movies like 'Daana Veera Soora Karna' and 'Sri Tirupati Venkateswara Kalyanam' made him a king of mythological movies. Coming to 'Muvva Gopaludu', 'Bangaru Bullodu' and 'Mangamma Gari Manavadu' where he played the roles of naughty villager and the commercial potboilers like 'Rowdy Inspector' and 'Samarasimha Reddy' added a 'Roaring Lion' status to his career.

For any actor there comes a saturation point… Even Balakrishna faced a few bombers at the box-office with his wrong picks. The middle-age roles didn't suit his personality. But he roared back with 'Simha' and gave more hits like Legend, Lion, Dictator and Ruler conquering his place back from his competitors.

Balakrishna also stepped into the shoes of his father and essayed the role of Sr. NTR for the biopic of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao who was once a great leader and actor!!! This movie made this generation aware of Sr NTR's generous heart which craved for people's wellness and turned him into a Chief Minister of then united Andhra Pradesh.

Balakrishna has carved a niche for himself in Tollywood. His fans expect him to come up with some unique and inspiring subject for his 100th film. Finally, director Krish took up the subject of Guatamiputra Satakarni, to narrate the tale of first Indian King who brought the entire Indian subcontinent under one empire.

Finally, Boyapati is again back with his favourite hero and made us witness our dear Lion roaring with a powerful dialogue from his upcoming movie 'BB3'.

To conclude this powerful tale of Balakrishna, we call him as a 'director's hero'… Only a few legends own this title with their passion and our dear Lion definitely tops the charts!!!
