Hyderabad: Startup Accelerator India, India's Leading Digital Health & Technology Accelerator in collaboration with BioNEST, University of Hyderabad has successfully launched a Founders Talk named after eminent scientist Dr.Yellapragada Subbarao. The aim of the Founders Talk is to promoteTechnopreneurship and Innovation Management in Deep tech startups.

Dr. Prem Kumar Reddy, who holds 36 patents and has more than 300 publications & Founder of Onconova Therapeutics (USA) delivered the 1st Keynote Lecture of Y Subbarao Technopreneurship GEM Series. More than 60 participants including PhDs, Post Docs and Scientists from life sciences, chemistry & several other Incubatees at BioNEST attended the event.

Post the talk, Dr Anand Govindaluri, Singapore-based Healthcare investor & Founder, Govin Capital moderated a lively fireside chat with Dr Prem Kumar Reddy that threw light on the do's and dont's one has to follow in their academic research and entrepreneurial journey.

Yellapragada Subbarao Technopreneurship GEM series also acknowledged the best publication with social impact and the awardee was honoured with "Y. Subbarao Gold medal award" with a cash prize. The key factors for evaluating the proposals were Innovation,Social relevance and Patentability.

Prof G S Prasad, Prof Reddanna and Dr Anand were members of the Steering Committee for shortlisting of the Best Publication. The gold medal was given to Ms. Sumbul Afroz, under the guidance of Dr. Nooruddin Khan for their work on the development of MesoporousZnOnanocapsules, which enhance antigen-specific immunological responses. This adjuvant technology has immense application in vaccine development.

Dr. Anand Govindaluri, highlighted the importance of patents and its commercialisation to build a strong bio-economy in the country. He also shared his experiences in venture funding and exit strategies.

Professor P Reddanna, Principal Investigator, BioNEST, University of Hyderabad shared that the bimonthly lecture series followed by a stimulating fireside chat will promote and nurture the startup eco system in University of Hyderabad.
