GITAM organises Conclave 2019
To provide a space for public intellectuals to come and interact with the young minds, GITAM Deemed-to-be University, Hyderabad organised GITAM Conclave-2019 at its campus on Monday.
Hyderabad: To provide a space for public intellectuals to come and interact with the young minds, GITAM Deemed-to-be University, Hyderabad organised GITAM Conclave-2019 at its campus on Monday. The first edition of the Conclave-2019 aims to make GITAM as the epicentre of these kinds of intellectual talks and discussions in Hyderabad. The Conclave featured representatives from the areas of academic, economical, healthcare and entrepreneurs.
Dr. K S Ratnakar, Chairman, Global Medical Education and Foundation of Global Hospitals inaugurated the Conclave in the presence of M Sri Bharat, President, GITAM and Prof. N.Siva Prasad, Pro Vice-Chancellor, GITAM, Hyderabad.
Dr. Ratnakar and Sri Bharat participated in the first panel held discussion on 'Universities as center for excellence: Ways and means'. Research makes a difference in the development of education, regulatory framework and more autonomy also play major role to standardize good academic environment, they have opined. At the same time ethical aspect of education and social responsibility should be there, they added.
Dr. Ratnakar stressed on good education and he warned that if you destroy the education, we will lose everything. To provide good education there is a need of committed faculty, good management, better students, state-of-the art infra and curiosity & creativity in learning. Sri Bharat said the GITAM would be in the India's top institutions by next three year and they are aimed to be in global top 100 academic institutes by 2040. Both are advised the students that they can go abroad to learn and come back to serve India.
In the second panel Sri Kutumbara Rao Cherukuri, Ex Vice Chairman, AP State Planning Board and Prof K Nageshwar, Professor, Department of Communication and Journalism, Osmania University discussed on 'Indian Economy' (India's dream of USD 5 Trillion). P. Vasantha Kumar, Business Editor, TV5 News played a role of moderator. When the peoples' purchasing power increases the country will prosper but not by providing tax reductions and other incentives, the panel opined. Government should come forward to invest in the risk factor areas like startups etc, the advised. PR and Media cell student coordinators K. Trilok delivered the welcome address and A.Venu Madhav proposed the vote of thanks. GITAMites performed cultural performances as a recreational activity in the conclave. About 500 students participated in this conclave and posed many questions to the panelists.
