Visakhapatnam: The charm of a career in the Indian Armed Forces could be clearly witnessed by the large number of students, who turned up for screening process, choosing Indian Navy as their career option. Indian Navy recruitment team received huge response from GITAM engineering students here on Monday during their Preliminary Screening Drive for University Entry Scheme (UES).

Nearly 115 GITAM students from all the branches of Engineering took part in preliminary screening conducted Command Recruitment Team.

The recruitment team was led by Captain SC Das, Command Recruitment Officer, Eastern Naval Command. The selection process consisted of Group Discussion & Personal Interview as part of preliminary screening. The shortlisted candidates will get call letters for Services Selection Board (SSB) from January 2020.

The screening board president briefed the candidates on career opportunities in the Navy, selection procedure and the necessity of all- round personality to be part of the Indian Navy.

GITAM Training and Placements Director Gurumoorthy Gangadharan informed that the university is exposing the final year students to career opportunities in not only the private sector but also to Central and State Government Services including Indian Armed Forces. He also informed that the University Entry Scheme (UES) is a great opportunity to serve the nation and few students successfully cleared Services Selection Board (SSB) and got opportunity work in Indian Navy. He hoped that this year the strength will increase from GITAM.
