Mysuru: It is indeed a dream of many to own a house in heritage city of Mysuru, which is second only to Bengaluru and known for greenery, cleanliness and serenity. Keeping this in mind, Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) is planning to build 6,000 flats near the ring road, authority commissionerr Natesh informed the Hans India.
He said that the MUDA has identified three locations along the ring road for building apartments. They plan to come up with 2,000 houses at each location, consisting of single, two-bed and three-bed room flats.
"The objective of the project is to give good quality flats with all facilities at affordable rates to the people. We are planning to begin the project by April. There are 6,500 applications pending with MUDA for sites. Yet we will invite fresh applications and all the procedures will be followed to allot the houses," Mr Natesh said.
As first step towards this dream project, MUDA chairperson Mr H V Rajeev along with Mysuru district minister S T Somashekar, Mr Natesh and other officials visited on Friday one such apartment which Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) has built at Kommagatta in Kengeri.
Mr Somashekar said, "We recently held a meeting in Mysuru and discussed the plan to come up with similar project. So we have visited this apartment and interacted with the BDA authorities and engineers. We will visit more such BDA projects before finalizing a detailed plan to build similar housing complexes in Mysuru."
MUDA chairperson H V Rajeev said, "There were proposals for a long time to build apartments by in Mysuru. But people of Mysuru were skeptical about such high-rise buildings. But minister Somshekar told us about the success of vertical housing projects in his Yashwanthpur constituency in Bengaluru. And he pointed the necessity of vertical growth to meet the housing needs of people of Mysuru. So we have decided to take up this project. And we have interacted with the residents of the apartment at Kammagatta for their feedback on the facilities. We will adopt the plan of this project to suit the heritage nature of Mysuru. Based on the response to the project, we plan to take up more," he said.
