The election campaigning had reached its zenith in terms of the cacophony and touched its nadir as far as the decent democratic levels. All the political parties are indulging in personal vilification, with the ruling party at the centre, resorting to political vendetta.

Open appeals to one community or the other have become more a norm and no one seems to frown upon. Everyone is having a simulated experience of being the C.M of the state. With lots of recrimination, the educated voter is thinking twice of casting her vote. Healthy debates were given a go by and threats, counter threats were markedly dotting the electoral space.

Confusion worst confounded by the plethora of election surveys, which project the party of their choice as emerging successful. No party seems to spend time to share with the electorate, how the might of the people will be ameliorated. The frogs are put to shame, by the way, the politicians, mostly, disgruntled, are leaping from one party to the other.

With hardly a day or two to go to the polls, politicians are making wild promises, indulging in demagogy and counter- demagogy. We remain only on paper, the largest democratic nation. At least, as apolitical voters, let us try to preserve and uphold our democracy, by exercising our franchise to elect true leaders
