Anantapur: Speaking at the APUWJ extended executive committee meeting in Anantapur, State President IV Subbarao announced a phased agitation starting with ‘Demands Day’ on October 2 to resolve journalists’ issues.
He demanded a statutory Journalist Protection Act in AP on par with Maharashtra, a ₹100 crore welfare fund, house sites, and monthly pensions for retired journalists over 58 years.
Subbarao added that steps are underway to restore accidental insurance and rectify health card schemes through district monitoring committees.
Union leaders EN Raju, District President Payyavula Praveen, and General Secretary Mohammed Ayuf participated, urging unity to strengthen APUWJ.
