Guntur: Ponnuru police on Monday arrested two inter-state thieves allegedly involved in thefts in Telangana and AP, and recovered 53 grams gold and 500 grams silver jewellery from their possession.
According to Ponnuru Circle Inspector Kishore Kumar, theft took place at a house in Sharaf Bazaar in Ponnuru town on August 29. The victim’s family lodged a complaint with the police.
The police registered a case and launched investigation. They used technical evidence and identified the accused as inter-state thief Vamsi Krishna, a native of Appikatla village in Bapatla district. Another accused, Anil of Kadapa district, had become acquainted with Vamsi Krishna while both were in Sangareddy Jail.
After the arrest, they were produced before the magistrate.
