Guntur: APCPDCL chairman cum managing director P Pullareddy has advised organisers of Ganesh pandals to follow electrical safety standards. He appealed to the public to worship with devotion and celebrate the festival safely. In a statement, he urged organisers to exercise caution while installing electrical decorations and using temporary power supply at the pandals.
He advised organisers to set up Ganesh pandals at a safe distance from electrical poles and wires. He said necessary precautions should be taken to ensure that electrical wires do not pass over the pandals. He made it clear that unauthorised electricity connections should not be taken for the pandals. Electrical wiring and other related works should be carried out only by qualified electricians, he said. To prevent accidents caused by overloading, organisers should use wiring of appropriate capacity and install necessary protective devices.
He advised organisers to take special precautions during rains to prevent electrical equipment and wires from getting wet. He warned people not to touch wet electrical equipment. In case electrical wires snap or are found hanging, people should keep away from them and immediately inform electricity department officials or contact the 1912 toll-free number, he said. Adequate arrangements should be made to ensure that emergency vehicles and essential services are not obstructed. He said the temporary electricity supply will be provided to Ganesh pandals up to September 26.
