Ameerpet: GHMC has taken up a dedicated drive to eliminate thousands of banners, name boards and hoardings that have been routinely installed by few coaching centres and computer institutes in Maitrivanam area of Khairatabad Circle.

In the presence of Khairatabad zonal Commissioner Musharaf Ali, five deputy commissioners, executive engineers, assistant city planners, medical officers and other officers of the zone formed a team and removed illegal banners, hoardings and flexies in the area.

GHMC officials issued notices in the past to the shops and companies to remove the boards and also to set up fire prevention measures. GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore inspected the few buildings in Ameerpet.

Citing the recent issue of fire accident in Surat, GHMC Commissioner asked officials to impose the penalties heavily on those who violates the by installing illegal banners, boards and flexies.

About 200 people worked to remove about 20,000 banners, boards and flexis. Zonal Commissioner Musharaf Ali said that around 40 per cent of these illegal banners and boards had been removed on Tuesday and that this special drive would continue on Wednesday.
