Hyderabad: Apart from running for health and adrenal rush, the 9th edition of the Airtel Hyderabad Marathon ushered in a social cause as 150 participants running for 50 charity organizations & NGOs raised Rs 30 lakh. Citizens came out in large numbers to cheer over 25,000 runners, over 12 music bands and large-scale entertainment kept the runners spirit high while sports enthusiasts and thousands of citizens lined up on the entire route.

1235 runners participated in the full marathon, 4516 runners took part in the half marathon and 9,181 runners participated in 5K Fun Run on Saturday. 250 paramedics across 21 medical stations with five fully equipped ambulances and 15-bed emergency setup at Gachibowli Stadium was provided.

The full marathon was flagged off by Anjani Kumar, Commissioner of Police at 5 am, the half marathon was flagged off by M Dana Kishore, Commissioner, GHMC at People's Plaza at 6 am. The full marathon started at Peoples Plaza and ended at GMC Balayogi Stadium.

The winners were given prizes at GMC Balayogi Stadium, Gachibowli by Abhijeet Madnurkar, race director, Avneet Singh Puri, CEO, Bharti Airtel Andhra Pradesh & Telangana and Murali Nannapaneni, President, Hyderabad Runners Society.
