Mohammed Feroz Khan entered politics in 2007 and joined Congress party. In 2009, he grew to be an important factor in the political space, as he contested on the ticket of Praja Rajyam Party of Chiranjeevi and lost to MIM by a margin of just 6,799. Later, he fought on a TDP ticket.

His loss is attributed to TDP alliance with BJP and the negative impact of Modi factor in Muslim-dominated areas. Later, he rejoined Congress and contested from Nampally in the recently held Assembly elections and lost to MIM candidate Jaffar Hussain Meraj with a margin around 10,000 votes.
