The month-long Bonalu festival is going to culminate at the Akkanna Madanna Temple, situated at Haribowli in the Old City. Procession comprising devotees from 15 temples will converge at Charminar on July 29 this year.

Charminar: The month-long Bonalu festival is going to culminate at the Akkanna Madanna Temple, situated at Haribowli in the Old City. Procession comprising devotees from 15 temples will converge at Charminar on July 29 this year.

The procession will start in the evening and conclude by night with immersion of 'ghatams' at Nayapul. The `ghatam' of Akkanna Madanna Temple, situated at Haribowli, is placed on an elephant, with historical and mythological figures representing Akkanna and Madanna (Ministers of Abul Hasan Qutub Shah or Tani Shah of Qutub Shahi dynasty) heading the procession each year.

The other processions, mostly taken out on chariot, will first converge at Nehru Statue before reaching Charminar. "The processions from Mutyalamma Temple of Chandulala Bela, Bangaru Mysamma Temple of Shalibanda, Jagadamba Temple of Sultanshahi, Murad Mahal Temple, Gowlipura Temple, Darbar Mysamma Temple of Aliabad, Uppugda Mahankali Temple and Lal Darwaza Temple congregate at Nehru Statue and take out in the form of a grand procession towards Charminar, where the stage will be set for welcoming the procession towards Nayapul.

Some other smaller processions from temples, located in Miralam, Alijah Kotla, Kasaratta Temple, located in Mahboob chowk, will also join the grand processions at Charminar," said G Niranjan, president, Sri Akkanna-Madanna Mahankali Mandiram.
