Congress Manifesto for GHMC Elections 2020: Telangana Congress has promised Rs 50,000 assistance to every family affected in recent floods in Hyderabad, New Secretariat beyond the Outer Ring Road, bringing Covid-19 disease under Aarogyasri and extending free treatment, scrapping of Dharani portal, garbage-free Hyderabad by 2022, complete waiver of property tax and electricity bills to shops belonging to barbers, washermen, carpenters and goldsmiths, Free water supply up to 30000 liters and drinking water connection to be given with free of cost, etc.

The party released its GHMC poll manifesto on Tuesday. AICC in-charge for Telangana B Manickam Tagore, TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka and other senior leaders were present on this occasion.

Other promises include free local transportation for women, students, Divyangans and senior citizens in Metro, MMTS and RTC buses. Regulation of fee loot by corporate and private schools and colleges in collaboration with Hyderabad Schools' Parents Association (HSPA) and civic society, no landfills by 2023 also figured in the manifeso

Also, efforts will be made to implement Land Regularisation Scheme (LRS) and Building Regularisation Scheme (BRS) with no fees. They also promised to set up an advisory council with RWAs, NGOs under GHMC, Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) to be reconstituted with people's participation and government functionaries and fully empowered with authority and accountability.

Among green measures is ban on POP Ganeshas and during Ganesh festival. As per the Congress manifesto, the Congress party would implement NDMA guidelines, prepare a Disaster Management Plan for Hyderabad and conduct regular mock drills. It also promised an advanced rainfall forecast system.

The other major promises include: Setting up of "Lakes Protection Authority" along with RWAs and protect them from encroachment and land grabbing; Regular desilting of nalas and construction of retaining walls/fencing; huge underground water storage facilities for effective flow regulation to prevent/minimise flooding as successfully done in Spain, Hon Kong and Japan; a comprehensive drainage system etc. The Congress party has promised to give every eligible beneficiary a double bedroom house. Rs 8 lakh will be given to the families who have a plot to construct a house. If they have a single bedroom house Rs 4 lakhs will be given to construct an additional room.
