Demand for earthen pots soaring in city
Come summer, it is time for the people to look out for some cool water and what could be better than the water from earthen pot. Yes, with people loving to drink pure filtered cool water from earthen pots, the demand for earthen pots in city has increased manifold.

Though most of the households own refrigerators, people still prefer to drink water from earthen pots during summer. Keeping in mind the hygiene aspect, the pots now come with taps for people who do not like dipping glasses in the pot.
According to Balamani, a potter who has stalls in LB Nagar and Vanasthalipuram, said that the demand for pots has increased many folds. "This summer we are having a brisk business.
We import pots from Mahbubnagar and Jadcherla. People are opting for different kinds of pots. The prices range from Rs 100 to Rs 350 depending on the size and the quality," Balamani said.
Nagalli Prabhakar Goud, a customer from Mansoorabad said he and his family prefer earthen pot water rather than fridge water. We really enjoy the taste of water from pots. I purchase two pots every year. It would be better if prices are reduced a little."
The pots with tap are in good demand and the price varies depending upon the bargaining power, says a seller. Sales have improved in the past two weeks and will continue for another two months. "Till May, when the temperature is at the maximum, people will buy pots", the seller adds.
